According to an article by Business Insider, former Super Bowl-winning head coach Jon Gruden – currently working as a “Monday Night Football” analyst – may be considering a return to coaching. During a recent appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Gruden said he may return to coaching “one of these days, you never know,” which is a sentiment he has expressed several times in the past. But with a pair of high-profile openings, it now seems more likely that Gruden may accept his first professional gig since the 2008 season. In the NFL the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be looking for a new coach, and Gruden’s longstanding ties to the franchise make him an ideal candidate. And in the collegiate ranks, the University of Tennessee’s firing of Butch Jones makes Gruden a natural fit for that opening, given that he spent time in Knoxville as a graduate assistant from 1985 to 1987. Should Gruden end up back on the sideline, it will end a nine-season tenure on “Monday Night Football.”
