Lance Roberts: Retail $$$ into Stock Index Funds Fueling Larger Stock Bubble?
Jason Burack of Wall St for Main St interviewed first time guest, the Chief Strategist/Chief Economist for Clarity Financial, Editor at Real Investment Advice talk show host of the Lance Roberts Show and author of the Real Investment Daily Blog & the Real Investment Report, Lance Roberts.
Lance’s articles have appeared on: Market Watch, Business Insider and Newsmax.
During this 35+ minute interview, Jason starts off the interview by asking Lance about retail money flooding into general stock market index funds after Donald Trump won the 2016 Presidential election and what that has done to stock market valuations?
Lance has an article out about this:
Lance talks about how this capital is indiscriminately buying up certain large cap stocks forcing valuations higher.
Next, Jason and Lance then discuss the oil market since Lance has lived in Houston, Texas for years. Lance is friends with many oilmen in Texas and he also manages some of their money. Lance thinks that oil drillers are increasing drilling only to pay off debt and the oil industry is in major trouble.
After a very interesting discussion on potentially a collapse in oil prices, Jason mentions Lance’s great article from last month about risk management
Lance talks about managing risk and how to preserve your capital if/when there’s another stock market crash or financial crisis.
To wrap up the interview, Jason asks Lance if the Federal Reserve will intervene with more QE if the stock market drops 30-50% and whether a lot worse stagflation is coming? (since former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan says stagflation is already here and about to get worse!)
